Planning mesh reinforcement
Choose the mesh as part of the complete render or insulation specification. The mesh, base coat and any additional reinforcement details must be suitable for use together. Calculate the quantity required from the actual wall layout. The nominal area of a roll is not the finished coverage area once adjacent lengths overlap and material is cut around openings, corners and other details. Include the allowances required by the system designer when planning the order, and consider how the roll width works with the proposed application sequence.
Application preparation
Prepare the substrate and base coat according to the chosen system instructions before placing reinforcement. Use the specified position within the coat, overlap dimensions and treatment of corners and openings. Keep the mesh flat and avoid folds or loose areas that could interfere with the finished layer. Do not use the mesh as a substitute for treating an underlying defect or an incorrectly prepared surface.
