The Green Stuff – Render Mesh – 160 gsm

Description

Render mesh is an alkaline-resistant, woven fiberglass mesh that reinforces plasters and renders, acting as an anti-crack and anti-shrinkage barrier to strengthen surfaces and prevent structural damage from movement or environmental stressIt’s applied by embedding it into the wet base coat of a render or plaster, providing incredible strength, flexibility, and tear resistance to areas like corners, joints, and entire surfaces. The mesh is crucial for stability, especially in exterior applications like External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems, offering long-lasting performance by resisting cement’s alkalinity and environmental fluctuations.

Key Features & Benefits
  • Reinforcement & Stability

Provides a strengthening layer that increases the durability and stability of render and plaster systems.

  • Crack Prevention

Acts as a high-tensile mesh to prevent shrinkage, movement, and stress cracks from forming.

  • Alkali Resistance

Its alkali-resistant coating prevents the mesh from degrading when in contact with the alkaline components in cement and render.

  • Flexibility & Ease of Use

The lightweight and flexible nature of the fiberglass mesh makes it easy to handle, cut, and apply to complex surfaces and corners.

  • Versatility

Suitable for both internal and external applications on a variety of substrates including concrete, cement, screeds, and various carrier boards.

  • Durability

Chemically inert and rot-proof, ensuring long-lasting performance even in demanding environments.

How It Works
  1. ApplicationThe mesh is applied to the first, still-tacky coat of render or plaster.
  2. EmbeddingA second coat of render is then applied over the mesh, embedding it into the material.
  3. ReinforcementThe embedded mesh creates a durable, flexible lattice within the render, which absorbs stress and prevents cracks from propagating through the surface.
