Description

The TIMCO aluminium plastering hawk 13 x 13 inch provides a hand-held surface for holding plaster while you work with a separate trowel. The square aluminium plate has rounded corners and a central handle fitting. It is supplied with the handle components shown in the photograph and is listed under store reference TAH13.

A working surface for plastering

A hawk keeps a manageable amount of material close to your working hand. Hold the handle beneath the plate and use your trowel to take small amounts from the surface as needed. This arrangement helps you move between the material supply and the wall or ceiling without carrying the full mixing container.

The plate is labelled 13 x 13 inches, with the packaging also stating 325 x 325mm. Its aluminium surface has circular grooves, and the supplied grip is described on the packaging as an ergonomic soft-grip handle. Check that the handle is fitted securely before loading the hawk.

Before and during use

Inspect the plate, handle and fitting before starting. Prepare your plaster or other compatible material according to its manufacturer’s instructions. Begin with a small amount on the plate so that you can keep the hawk level and control the load comfortably. Add more only when you can handle it safely.

Keep the working area clear and use an appropriate trowel for the finish you are applying. Avoid leaving hardened fragments on the hawk, as these may be picked up with fresh material and carried onto the surface you are finishing.

Care after use

Remove remaining material before it sets, using a cleaning method suitable for the material and aluminium plate. Clean around the handle fitting, dry the tool and store it with the plate protected from damage. Plaster, mixing equipment, trowels and other accessories are sold separately.
