Kilsaran render FAQs
Is Kilsaran KPRO render suitable for external wall insulation?
Yes. The SR 1.5 Silicone Render and S-SR 1.5 Silicate-Silicone Render thin-coat finishes can be used on external wall insulation systems, as well as on concrete, render carrier board and cement-based renders.
Which primer do I need before silicone render?
Kilsaran specifies QP10 Quartz Primer on concrete and reinforced basecoats before SR 1.5 and S-SR 1.5. Tinting it to match the render colour is recommended. For tiles, glass, steel and other non-absorbent surfaces, use QPX Bonding Primer.
How much does a 25kg bucket of silicone render cover?
SR 1.5 covers approximately 10–12m² per 25kg bucket (2.1–2.5kg/m²). S-SR 1.5 covers approximately 10m² per bucket (around 2.5kg/m²). Actual coverage depends on the substrate and how it is applied.
What is the difference between SR 1.5 and S-SR 1.5?
Both are 1.5mm thin-coat renders, applied the same way. SR 1.5 is a silicone render that Kilsaran describes as highly self-cleaning and highly elastic. S-SR 1.5 is a hybrid silicate-silicone render with good vapour permeability and colour stability. Both come in a large colour range.
