Description

Refina Serrated Steel Scraper Float 280mm – 281346

The Refina Serrated Steel Scraper Float 280mm is a handheld preparation tool for scraping suitable plaster and render surfaces. Its perforated steel working face provides the scraping action, while the raised handle lets you guide the float across the area being worked. This listing is for one complete float, Refina reference 281346.

A controlled approach to surface preparation

A scraper float is useful when the material and finishing method call for surface scraping. Work at the stage recommended for the particular plaster or render, and check the desired finish on a small trial area before progressing across the whole surface. Material condition and timing affect the result, so use the coating supplier’s instructions as your guide.

The 280mm format provides a manageable working area for manual preparation. The handle sits above the working plate, giving a clear grip as you change direction and pressure. Keep your strokes controlled and inspect the surface regularly so you can see how much material is being removed.

Using and caring for the float

Inspect the working face and handle before use. Remove any trapped or hardened material that could interfere with even contact, and check that the tool remains secure and comfortable to hold. Select the correct tool for the required finish; a scraping face should only be used where removal or texturing of the material is intended.

As you work, clear accumulated debris from the face as needed. Avoid excessive pressure that could damage the finish or remove more material than intended. Take care around corners, edges and adjoining surfaces, and use the protective equipment appropriate to the material and preparation method.

Clean the float after use before residue becomes difficult to remove, then dry it and store it where the working face will be protected. Other preparation and finishing tools are supplied separately. Browse our plastering and rendering tools for related equipment.
