Description

The Rubi Rubiflex steel notched trowel 10mm x 10mm is a hand tool for spreading and combing tile adhesive. Its square notches form consistent rows of adhesive, while the closed handle gives you a secure place to hold and guide the blade. This listing is for one trowel, store reference RNT1010.

10mm square notches for adhesive application

The blade has a 10mm x 10mm notch pattern. Use the flat edge to spread adhesive onto the prepared surface, then draw the notched edge through it to create parallel ridges. Work in manageable areas so the adhesive can be covered within the working time stated on its packaging.

Choose the notch size according to the tile and adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Tile dimensions, the condition of the background and the profile on the back of the tile can all affect the required adhesive coverage. A 10mm notch does not mean the finished adhesive bed will be 10mm thick.

Before you start tiling

Check that the background is sound, clean and suitable for the chosen adhesive. Prepare and prime it where the adhesive manufacturer requires this. Mix the adhesive as directed, and check the blade and handle before starting work. During installation, lift a tile periodically to check the transfer of adhesive onto its back and adjust the method if necessary.

Cleaning and storage

Remove adhesive from the blade and notches before it hardens, using a cleaning method suitable for the adhesive. Dry the tool after cleaning and store it where the working edges will be protected. Keeping the notches clear helps maintain a consistent combing pattern on the next job. Adhesive, tiles, spacers and other tiling accessories are sold separately.
